With the spring equinox two days behind us, its remarkable how many tourists have stopped me on the street to ask why it’s still snowing. If you’re a local, then this awkward in-between time that marks the start of our off season is nothing new. Standing on the outside looking in, most assume this is a bad time to be in Aspen - right after the height of our main ski season and before the start of all the summer activities. Personally, and I’m sure I’m not alone on this one, I consider this the best time to be in Aspen. It gives us all time to recharge from a long winter in preparation for a summer that always goes by too fast. There are some killer events going on in town this weekend, starting with the KickAspen Big Air event. Tonight 20 skiers and 20 snowboarders will throw down their best tricks at the base of Aspen Mountain, with the winner going home with $1,500! The event starts at 8 pm, so make sure you bundle up! After the big air event, rush over to Belly Up for a performance by instrumental electronic rock band STS9, known for pushing the boundaries and using both acoustic and electronic methods to convey their unique sound. If you don’t manage to get a ticket for tonight’s show don’t worry, the funky group will be performing every night this weekend! Also tonight, the sixth instalment of the International Ocean Film Tour at the Wheeler Opera House, showcasing the best ocean adventures and environmental documentaries from around the globe. Tomorrow night catch Aspen Laugh Festival’s event with Marc Maron, a comedian known for his raw, honest, and thought-provoking humor. As always, there will also be Aspen Historical Society lead ski tours on aspen mountain and guided tours at the Aspen Art Museum. It is forecast to snow all weekend! Stay warm and have fun in the moutnains! Happy Friday!

Posted on March 4, 2019 by Chris Klug

You don’t have to go to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras! Head over to Snowmass Village tomorrow, and be a part of their 36-year tradition of bringing Bourbon Street to the Rockies. Festivities begin with The Mother of all Ascensions Uphill Race at 7 am at the bottom of Fanny Hill, followed by parades and bead tossing in the afternoon. Wrap up the night with the Bud light Hi-Fi Concert and fireworks around 7 pm. If you need a break from the celebration in Snowmass, head into Aspen for winter bird watching at ACES and Aspen Historical Society’s Time Travel Tuesday featuring “Aspen Dogs, Tomorrow” at the Wheeler Opera House. If you are looking for something intellectually stimulating on Wednesday, there will be various physics lectures at Aspen Center for Physics and Aspen Science Center. Aspen Center for Environmental Studies is hosting its Wednesday evening Potbelly Perspectives with Hawk Greenway titled Eyewitness to Climate Change: An Aerial Perspective of Denali National Park, and guided art tours at The Aspen Art Museum. On Thursday, come join all of us at Klug Properties for an authentic Carnival party from 3pm – 6pm for some live music and Tapas at 776Divide.com! Tomorrow's Epic Powder Day

Posted on February 6, 2019 by Chris Klug

Aspen has and will continue to get completely blasted with snow until early tomorrow morning. Snow accumulation is projected to be anywhere from 12 to 18 inches in Aspen with as much as 2 feet on the tops of each of our 4 mountains. Snowmass mountain has received almost 27 inches within the last three days, with 10 of those inches happening in just the last 24 hours. With a base of 45 inches and 333 out of 336 of the runs between Aspen and Snowmass open, tomorrow is going to be an epic powder day. In addition to the awesome snow, there will also be guided tours at the Aspen Art Museum, Historic Pub crawls, Historic Hotel Jerome Tours, ACES: Naturalist Night, and a Performance by violinist Jennifer Koh at the music tent.  Road conditions are hazardous, so please drive safely tonight and on your way to the slopes tomorrow morning!
